Many of my students struggle with reading. Being able to read an assignment or textbook and understand/comprehend what it says is a very important part of education and developing the skills they will use later in life. In special education, the tools/aids that are given to students are there to essentially "level the playing field." In order to achieve this, when given a reading pen or a reading highlighter strip, the struggling readers are able to develop the same skills as their peers. A reading pen and highlighter strips will help in all classes, as well as on tests, quizzes, and other assignments/assessments.
