Any time an educator has the opportunity to engage students in an exciting activity, it is a win. Traditionally, a math teacher spends a good amount of time in front of the classroom introducing new concepts to their class, and then the students practice these concepts to improve their understanding. While this traditional method is successful for more students, I plan to bring math concepts to life through artistic expression. Students will use a variety of art techniques to rethink the way a math lesson is learned. Simple artistic tools such as crayons, markers, glue, and scissors will be used to give life to our lesson as they supplement the familiar math tools of pencil, paper, and a calculator.
