At my school, advisory is more than housekeeping and attendance taking. It is a place to build a community and to create student citizens. Advisories stay with their adviser all four years, building a literal family. My advisory this year is one of six freshman advisories. They are entering a project-based school that is both rigorous and caring. I am just getting to know them, but they are full of the same energy, excitement, curiosity, and trepidation that we all remember at that time in our lives.
