My classroom is made up of some of the most incredible first graders ever! They come from different cultural backgrounds, as well as economic backgrounds. Like many young children, my students learn best with hands-on opportunities. This is why STEM plays such a crucial role in my class - from our "Morning Tubs", where students spend the first 10 minutes of class designing and building, to our more structured STEM lessons. Our classroom is rarely a quiet place, as collaboration is key to our success. My students are seated in groups to allow them to work together to solve math problems, research topics, and design together. They know that they are a valued and cherished part of our class. We are a family, first and foremost.
