My students do not have good access to technology at home. They do not all have computers or cell phones, and they do not have consistent internet access. Having iPads in our classroom will augment my students' access to technology, and better prepare them for the technology rich world we live in. They will use the iPads as a daily center in our classroom. They will be able to use them to read on a school program we use called myOn, to play educational language arts games, and to do research on any topics we cover in class. The iPads will give them access to a wider variety of books. As an IB world school, it is important that our students explore their world and generate topics of education using their personal interests. A set of iPads in the classroom will allow students to personalize their learning. They will allow them to explore the answers to any questions they might come up with in class. Students who can generate their own questions and ideas and research them are certainly more likely to become lifelong learners. There is no question that an iPad center will enrich our daily learning.
