Several students in my classroom ask for help reading text during class, they lack the resources needed and some have difficulties receiving help at home, so they try harder in class to grasp the understanding of everything they learn in class. Our school is a neighborhood school found on the northeast side of town in western North Carolina. The industrial industry has slowly left the area for many different reasons, out sourcing has been the main cause of low employment with our families. Many of our families often struggle to find employment and opportunity. All the students in my classroom loves learning, at times the method and environment in which they learn best vary greatly. I have incorporate a variety of learning strategies, group work, and alternative seating to ensure all the student's needs are met, right where they are! I feel the Small Group Nonfiction Comprehension will allow them to grow and enjoy learning at the same time. They are a very creative group, and I am so lucky and thankful to have this group of learners that are excited and ready to learn each day!
