My students will use the requested Chromebook computers for a variety of purposes that will impact learning and organizational skills they will need to thrive in their rigorous school community. Students will be able to track their progress and feedback on assignments through the use of GoogleDrive. They will be able to track their grades on the online grading system used to monitor their performance throughout semesters. Students will have access to and engage with our class website and be able to post their weekly blog posts with ease. Our students will use Smore to create digital posters, and get quick feedback playing engaging games on Kahoot.
Through the use of this technology our students will gain the skills to be successful in a competitive and global work place. In order for this goal to come to fruition, It's imperative that we have the proper tools to assist in creating a dynamic and "21st Century" classroom. Simply, that at the very least each of my students has access to a reliable/fully functioning computer.
As of now, our school has access to one laptop cart with 28 laptops that over 600 student across seven grades (6-12) share via a laptop reservation system. It is virtually impossible to reserve. When tech based lessons are implemented, I often have to borrow technology from neighboring teachers or make last minute changes when the laptops are not available. Most of the technology at our school has become obsolete and unreliable. Chromebooks will allow my students to receive an individualized curriculum to serve their needs.
