This is an opportunity to use skills that they would not regularly use. By using the 3D printer, students are seeing things from a new perspective. They are creating objects that are tangible for their learning objectives. This puts them in charge of their own learning. It also opens up career interests in inventions, money-making opportunities, creating things in their wildest imaginations. My students live in an increasingly impoverished area, and getting outside the normal mundane school life gives students the chance to thrive, which will change lives for the better.
