Studies show that when students read every day it has fantastic benefits such as: stress relief, increased empathy, better vocabulary and improves concentration. In my classroom we begin each class period with fifteen minutes of independent reading time. Students choose their books and all they are required to do is enjoy their books. Because my students have such various backgrounds it is important to give them books that they are interested in to get them reading and let them learn about new worlds and places. I want my students to love reading as much as I do. Reading is important!
