Since I am new to second grade, my classroom library is very limited. I taught Kindergarten for 15 years, so the books I brought with me are, "too babyish". (quoted from the kids) In reality it is true! My students need books that are at their level, and that appeal to their interests. I have researched the most popular second grade books which are also at their reading level. Some examples of these include Junie B. Jones, The Boxcar Children, and the Black Lagoon series. The teachers on my second grade team have assured me these will meet my students' needs and likes. I want to create lifelong readers. I want to instill in them a love for reading! Thank you!
