Having a set of tablets will allow for different structures of learning in my classroom. Students can look up images of unfamiliar subject matter that supports building background knowledge and enhance their reading experience. Students could take pictures or make mini movies that demonstrate their understanding of concepts across subjects. They will collaborate on group findings by sharing through the cloud. I will download apps for various analysis and comprehension skills for a literacy center, which would allow me to have activities for both my highest performing and most struggling students. My project will make a difference for these digital natives by supporting a shift in the learning environment from teacher-centered to student-centered. With scholars having access to tools that will help them take charge of their own learning experience, our scholars will have the opportunity to grow beyond their circumstances. Our classrooms are not yet at the level technologically to meet their needs as learners. This grant will help to close that gap!
