My school building serves 1400 students. We did an inventory of all the glassware we had in the science department and it was staggering how little we had This is a relatively new school, but the science rooms didn't get stocked very well. My colleagues and I love doing hands-on science, but lack the materials to do so.
Glassware is necessary for all facets of science. Glassware is essential for many labs; teaching the difference between compounds and mixtures, as well as chemical and physical properties and changes. They are great tools for acid and base reactions. Accurate measurement is required for all grade levels of science, and glassware, are the perfect tools for measuring, this includes measuring for reactions, as well as density for math. Students need to be able to use science materials over household goods, to learn how to do proper science which can be applied later in life. Glassware beakers and flasks are timeless pieces in a classroom, and has such versatility.
