The young musicians in our orchestra have learned a great deal this year. In, addition to mastering musical concepts, they are growing in their confidence of tuning their own instruments. This is an invaluable skill as they continue playing their instruments. Training one's ear to tune open strings for violin, viola, cello, and bass can be tricky at first, which is why we need the Snark Tuners to develop that sensitivity! Once the students grow more confident in their tuning abilities, the Snark Tuner will be needed less and less and their ability to match pitch will become stronger. Having the Snark Tuners will also allow us to transition quickly between tuning and rehearsing. Because the students will have tuned themselves so well already, rehearsal will begin faster and the students will have more time to master greater musical skills.
