My name is Rachel Horner. I am Middle School Art Teacher at York Chester Middle School in Gastonia, NC, just outside of Charlotte. Our school is a Title 1 school that is currently working with a School Improvement Grant. We received a school-wide free breakfast / free lunch to ensure that our students are receiving the nutrition they need to help them stay focused, learn, and grow. In my classroom the students are provided with the opportunity to experiment with an array of materials from pastels to paint to fibers and batiks to clay. It is a time for students to take a break from the tests and get creative!
