I am new to teaching 2nd grade, so I do not have a classroom library. I am wanting to stock my shelf with read-aloud books (as we will not be allowed to have a shared classroom library). I have chosen books that address many of the important issues that our world is facing today including issues of racism, diversity, inclusion, the pandemic, and the changes/feelings that go along with it, in addition to some good old classics and funny favorites. I want to engage my students in meaningful, character-shaping discussions and these books will set the stage for that to happen in our classroom.
