The Tremor Table and Towers Pack will allow students to build, test, and analyze their structure in earthquakes. This type of project allows students the opportunity to apply both math and science skills in a problem solving challenge. Students will compete to build the best structure with the constraints they are given. They will draw blue prints on the computer, create models, and then analyze their data. We hope to spur students into engineering and this project exposes them to real world challenges of building with hazards such as earthquakes. In the past only 50% of our students graduated from High School but we hope projects like this inspire students to stay in school and set high goals for careers related to math and science. We have made a great start but both the students and the teachers crave to do more and be better.
