As a math coach at J. High School, I am finding that our students are lacking the fundamental skills that they need to be successful in their high school math classes. As we are teaching content that is on grade level, we are finding that our students do not know their multiplication tables. Because they are lacking this skill, they are struggling to keep up with the math standards that they are required to have in the 9th and 10th grades. With the help of flashcards, practice and repetition of their multiplication facts, our students will be able to knock down the barrier that is standing in the way of them being successful in their Algebra 1 and Geometry classes.
