The state standards for this project are RL11.1-10. Reading this book will provide cultural relevant material that is happening in our world today. We will openly discuss literary elements like theme, motif, figurative language and allegory. In addition we will utilize cross curriculum education in their History Class and correlate how the Civil Rights and current events in life are occurring and how it relates to the book. Reading and analyzing this book will provide opportunity for the kids to express their opinions and listen to one another's differing opinions verbally and when writing essays. Receiving this book set will be a wonderful addition to our classroom.
