Due to Covid, the majority of my current students are lacking in basic skills that they missed during kindergarten and first grade. I am finding that I need to teach phonics and phonemic skills to the class using my white board. I find that students participation is increased the closer they are to the board. The classroom rug will provide the atmosphere that I need for whole group participation. The student write and wipe math boards with the number chart and ten frame on the back are exactly what will help my students as they learn basic adding and subtracting.
