Kindergarteners who all receive free lunch in a turn-around school. All have the ability and need to love and deserve a fighting chance at life. Many have had limited exposure to language which causes problem solving skills to be a strength need. Most are acquiring language normally and are performing at grade level. However to be successful on criterion referenced assessments they will need to become critical thinkers, readily adapt to changes in their school and environment and be confident in their abilities. I have children who have been in foster care for most of their lives. Others only know how to communicate through negative channels. Several are severely lacking in social skills that prevent them from establishing any positive relationships with peers or adults. With your help, we can change our demographics, school perceptions and raise our school ranking.
