This year students across our parish are utilizing online testing. This is also true for my fifth graders. This is a new challenge for my students, as well as a challenge for me. While most of my students have been exposed to computers, all of them will need many more opportunities to type across all subject areas. Students will be expected to be able to type constructed response items in Science, Social Studies, and Language Arts. They will also be required to type constructed responses in Math, which includes creating equations. It is my goal that through this project I will be able to provide my students with adequate opportunities to practice typing across all subject areas, so that they may "go for the gold" during testing. We are facing a challenge with limited access to technology that the chromebooks will aid us in overcoming. Having 3 chromebooks in our classroom will give my students the opportunity to type multiple times each week in each subject. My students are eager to learn to type appropriately and are just as excited to step up to this challenge of online testing.
