Imagine a high school that prepares students for a self-fulfilling future by helping them be personally and socially responsible and think critically and communicate effectively. We are that school, and our 9-12 mixed advisory classes are a time to impart and nurture those skills. With a mixture of 9, 10, 11, and 12th graders both male and female, advisory provides a unique opportunity for discussions with a cross-section of students not usually found in other classes. Each teacher on campus is assigned 22-25 students, who stay with them all four years, allowing students to create a long-term relationship with a teacher. That relationship is a great example of what I would like to help students create with every teacher, and many people they come across in their lives.
