I teach first grade in a small rural community in Oroville, Ca. in Butte County. Most of my students face many challenges including, poverty, home life trauma, and often very little academic support at home. Many of the families had to evacuate last year for the Camp Fire and the year before that when the Oroville Dam spilled over. These amazing kiddos have been through a lot in the past couple years. Despite the hardships they experience, they have resilience and the eagerness to come to school every day to try their best, to do their best, and to learn! And they deserve to have a classroom with materials, supplies, and tools to facilitate their learning in a safe, joyful, and engaging setting.

About my class
