This year the focus is on exposing my scholars to all genres of literature. As a means to bring their historical learning to life, the novel, The Egypt Game, will be introduced. History for elementary students can often be dry; however, allowing them the opportunity to become enveloped in this novel will peak their interest. Making meaning of texts is an integral part of life-long learning for my scholars. Having a class set of the novel will allow for students to use post-it notes to annotate the novel. Likewise, practicing reading strategies will build upon their literacy levels. Education is a gift that can never be taken away and is not taken for granted in our classroom. We are very grateful for the generosity of donors who also value the power of knowledge.
