In the last year and a half, I have implemented morning mindfulness moments school-wide. Classes connect to these virtually so that we can all be together across the building every morning. These have also been recorded and stored in a shared folder for teachers to use with their classes whenever students need to use a strategy to calm their minds and bodies, focus, or energize for learning. These 5-10 minute exercises have been used across the school building, and also for students learning at home last year. I am now expanding on this and bringing mindfulness and social-emotional learning to an after-school club! This club will meet weekly to take our mindfulness and learning to the next level. We will follow an 8-step workshop model to bring more strategies and practices to my students. After receiving my certification as a social-emotional workshop facilitator and certified yoga instructor (RYT-200) through Breathe4Change, I am so excited to share more with my school community. These yoga mats will give all students the feeling of having their own space to practice and grow in their self-awareness and body awareness.
