Practice requires hard work and focus. We all practice to become better in different areas of our lives. These materials will help my students practice in reading and math. During reading they will use the microphone headsets to practice their reading fluency. They will do this by speaking while reading into the mic and replaying the audio to help them hear their mistakes in accuracy, rate, and expression. My students do weekly research projects to practice their research and presentation skills. One way my class presents is by creating a video. With microphones the sound quality of their work would improve. During math intervention they will use the headsets to work on extra practice content on their iPads while I work with the struggling students on math skills and concepts. The microphone headsets are needed to help my students practice in reading and math, but so are the Expo markers. In my classroom we use individual whiteboards and Expo markers for instructional practice every day. In math, especially throughout the lesson, they will practice different concepts on their boards. At the beginning of the lesson we will review past lessons and they will write down their answers and show me their boards. During the lesson they will record their work (with their Expo markers) as we work through it on the board, then they will practice with a partner and by themselves. My students are already becoming better readers and mathematicians, but I know that these materials will help make the process of practicing easier and more beneficial.
