My students want to create their own version of flag football and catch ball games. They want to work together as a team and engage in friendly competition. My students worked together to choose their equipment items which include a variety of team ball games and obstacle course activities. They selected flag football, catch ball, and paired games. My students want to create new and fun games that they find interesting. They want to make the rules for their games. They want their games to require thinking skills and physical activity. Some students want to learn football drills while others want to learn to play throw and catch. My students may only be first graders but they are excited to begin their hands-on learning while creating their 'First Grader Sports League' games manual. They are excited about the endless possibilities for creating new games with their new play equipment!
