First graders are full of energy! At their age, there is a constant need to be wiggling or moving, regardless of what they are trying to do. My goal is to provide my students with flexible seating choices that will allow them to continue being who they are, while staying actively engaged in learning. Not all students learn the same, so offering different seating choices empowers them to discover not only what kind of learner they are, but also what tools and environment will help them the most. When students are comfortable and able to move their bodies while learning, they have more fun and enjoy the process more. By funding this project, you are giving my students the power to choose what kind of seating works for their energy level and learning style. You are also helping me teach them to embrace what makes them special and that it is okay to learn differently than someone else. These are lessons that will help them far beyond the classroom.
