Each student will have computer lessons, videos and practice based on their unique math needs. Therefore, it is expected that each laptop will create different sounds. In a class of thirty or more students, the noise can create confusion. Headphones will allow students to build their mathematical muscle in a quiet environment and, since the headphones will be shared, the sanitary headphone covers will keep the ear piece clean. In order to transform a negative mindset into a positive one, it is necessary to provide frequent opportunities for success. In the case of my students, that requires creating a bridge from "I'm not good at math" to "Oh, I get it now". The computer software with the headphones is a fun and engaging way to supplement my instruction to increase math knowledge and boost confidence.
