The acquisition of these materials will make a huge difference for our students participating in this advanced level reading group. Our current options for books that we have class sets for are extremely limited for this age group, and are remnants of a former reading curriculum. Creating a literature study with 4th graders can be a challenge to start out, but using a modern piece of literature with engaging elements is a good place to start. I believe that the story in Wonder appeals to a wide variety of learners and that the feature in the novel of multiple character perspectives will prove invaluable for my students. We are thrilled to have been given the opportunity to create leveled reading groups this school year and really differentiate by meeting learners where they are at with materials targeted for their zone of proximal development. We need materials that are just the right challenge level and of high interest for our students.
