There aren’t many arguments against the value of movement when it comes to learning. Brain science tells us that it’s pretty clear. Physical movement makes it: -easier for our brain to maintain focus -helps us to integrate learning across both of our brain’s hemispheres -helps to enter information into our memories -reduces chances of feeling overwhelmed or overloaded. (Amber Lamprecht, Literacy and Language Centre). We have a number of students at our school with sensory integration and/or autism diagnoses. Providing our students with the equipment to integrate sensory breaks into their day will increase their learning and success within the classroom! We would like to utilize the hopscotch path, balance beams, hand and feet to build a sensory path for our students with sensory needs. This sensory path will allow students to receive the sensory input they need to regulate their bodies and be ready to learn.
