My students love having choices. Who doesn't like having choices? However, in most traditional classrooms, children are not given any choice about where to sit! Who says that everyone learns and works best while seated in a chair at a desk? Just because it works for some does not mean it works for all! We need Wobble Chairs, inflatable chairs, and balance balls. Some students need the ability to bounce a little on the yoga seat balls. Others may need the stability of a chair but still be able to wiggle using the Wobble Calls. Or, one student may need the comfort of a bean bag while working on the floor. In my 20 years of teaching, I have noticed more and more students needing to move while working. They are wiggling in their seats, standing up to work, or even sitting on the floor to work! I want to be able to give them comfortable places to sit and work where they are at their best! Choices are the way to go!
