New York is the hardest hit city worldwide and not only do a significant portion of my students live in low-income housing, but many of their caregivers have also fallen ill. I am subsequently requesting a laptop that will enable me to once again synchronize instruction, create interactive lessons, and video chat through Google Meet and Google Classroom applications. Since the majority of my students are classified as Special Needs or English Language Learners, they rely heavily on these teaching extensions in order to be successful in the curriculum. I need your help to improve the level of education I can provide my students during this difficult time. I am heartbroken, that at this juncture with another month of school left, my students are unable to rely on yet another adult in their lives. I not only provide academic support to my students, but emotional support as well, and not being able to have our regular chat groups is detrimental to my students’ social and emotional well-being.
Having a new computer will be a welcome tool to maintain contact with my students and their families during this unprecedented crisis that we are currently facing not only as a city, but as a nation. I thank you for your time and generosity.
