All students have different learning styles, abilities, and needs. Students must feel comfortable in their classroom in order to be successful. I will be transforming my classroom in an effort to make learning spaces more student-centered. Students are naturally energetic so a traditional classroom setting doesn't give them the power to learn the way children learn best. With flexible seating options such as hokki stools, bouncy bands, and yoga balls, students would be able to choose how to sit or stand while working in the classroom. This will allow students to wiggle out their energy and still concentrate on daily lessons. This project will help: 1. Student Choice-Flexible seating allows students to choose where they work and with whom. They can change their location and position as needed. Being able to move while working helps many children who have trouble staying focused. Students will be comfortable which allows them to concentrate and be successful. 2. Physical Health- Children need to move. Flexible seating options such as hokki stools, yoga balls, and bouncy bands allow kids to wobble, rock, bounce, lean or stand. This increases oxygen flow to the brain. Hokki stools provide support for children and improves posture and core strength. Moving will help keep young minds alert and focused. 3. Practice Self Control- Having multiple seat options will help students learn to wait their turn, share, and work together to problem solve.
