With iPads, the students will have the opportunity to research projects inside the classroom, work together as teams to plan and design their stop-motion animations, and execute their films while delegating roles of director, producer, cinematographer, production designer, and gaffer. The students will begin their project by researching stop-motion animations, and work together to decide their own story line that involves a theme they learned in their homeroom class and/or the art room. Once the theme is chosen, the students will delegate the roles for each team member; there will be a rubric with expectations of each role. The students will design their own backdrops and characters, then use the iPads with a stop-motion app to edit and construct their films with efficacy. By integrating technology, art, and teamwork, the lesson will provide differentiation for many different learning styles. By providing these materials for the students, it will encourage their creativity, break down their limitations, and open their minds to future careers they never would have known were possible.
