Technology has completely changed the face of teaching in so many amazing ways. The teacher must no longer be the expert in every area, but instead be the facilitator of continual learning - inspiring students to achieve more by accessing and using the wealth of information available to them with just the swipe of a finger. In a recent study, Pearson Research notes that instant feedback not only personalizes learning for students, but also leads to immediate change. Each of these things - personalized learning and immediate change - help enhance education for students. Students are more engaged because the feedback they are getting is specific for them, tailored to their needs and allows for correction in the specific places that they need it. My classroom would benefit specifically by having several iPad devices to use for scoring tests and quizzes with the use of software like Plickers and Zipgrade. After completing and scanning an answer sheet, students get instant feedback about their mastery level and about concepts they need to practice. Without having to wait a day or two for a teacher to grade the assessment, students are highly motivated to go back, find mistakes, and make changes. This leads to a high level of student engagement in the learning process and more and more student success!
