I teach AP Biology and Anatomy and Physiology in an impoverished, urban community in SE Michigan. While my main focus is mastery of high school learning objectives, we have a very strong partnership with the elementary school next door. We incorporate service learning projects within our school and with other schools and nature areas as often as possible. Practical applications for learning, and making a positive difference in our community, are very important in our class.
