My class is very close to having a one to one ratio of iPads. This is all my students use in order to access technology. We do not have computers or a SMART board. If students each have their own iPad, they can create personalized reading logs, personalized interface, and not have to fear their work accidentally being erased by another student. I love being able to have students create movies, research for informational books, write books, create graphs, and record personalized reading logs. When a couple have to share devices though, many times they accidentally do their work over another students work or need it at the same time. I am very close to not having to do this, and hope that you can make this project a reality for my students.
