My science team is transitioning from lecture to mostly kinesthetic learning. Research has shown, our tests have also, that students are learning more when they can build and manipulate materials. A large part of physical science is physics. A major concept of physics is energy. To demonstrate potential and kinetic energy we often describe a roller coaster. However, describing a roller coaster is completely different than touching a roller coaster. Science is a very hard subject to learn because most of what we teach is nonconceptual. This part of physics is conceptual through these roller coasters. Help us teach energy and Newton's laws of motion by donating to our 8th graders.
