I am teaching my fourth grade writers to check spelling of words and use a thesaurus to help vary their word selection as they learn to edit and revise their draft pieces. Mark Twain says, "Writing is easy, all you have to do is cross out the wrong words." Students are so eager to "be done" with a piece, we are learning the beauty of enhancing our "draft" piece into a work that we mold and create into a final product. We only have one thesaurus and dictionary in class and I feel students need more accessibility. We do use online dictionary and thesaurus, but going to the computer distracts from the momentum of the writing time.
