The P. E equipment will help me to plan for lessons that will engage my students by making up challenges and games that fosters creativity, perseverance, focusing and maintaining attention, as well as improvement in fitness, coordination, and balance. Physical Education is important for many reasons. Some of these important components help students that academically have low self esteem because they are diagnosed with a learning disability, but when they get out to engage in physical activities, they shine and you see their confidence come back. When students are engaged, a teacher will see leadership skills emerge and sportsmanship uncover on students that otherwise, did not have the courage to do so in a confined space. Many times, P. E. is the time when I can assess how a child copes with stress, winning or not winning and therefore can help them develop social skills that will set them up for future success. In summation, I know that having this equipment (balls, bean bags, cones and jump ropes) available to my students will help aid their academic performance, improve physical fitness, teach teamwork, and become competent with their social skills.
