By providing my kids with a Read Along Listening Center and Cassette player you will be affording them a literacy practice that models fluent reading. Fluency is difficult for ELLs because their lack of proficiency in English slows down their ability to decode words and hinders their ability to understand the meaning of words. Therefore, ELL need extensive exposure to appealing and engaging activities that will allow them to hear and reproduce the sound patterns of English and reading readiness skills. Be a part of this effort and help me create a literacy experience that will move my kids along a road of effective reading practices and language acquisition.
