If I could describe my classroom in five words, they would be: authentic, rigorous, supportive, engaging, and family. Students in my class have ownership of their own learning and a lot of what goes on happens organically. Because of the passion I have for learning and my strong desire to share knowledge with the kids, my class is definitely engaging. Every student in my classroom has a unique voice and are unique and individual learners. Creating a classroom family is important to creating a respectful environment. Taking the time to know my students well, not just as learners, but also as people has helped to create a real sense of belonging in our shared space. No matter the obstacles they face outside the class, they strive to be the best they can be every single day in the classroom.
