By offering a variety of seating that fulfills the sensory needs of our students, we will be creating a more hospitable learning environment. The wobble chairs will help my students to focus while at the table by giving them the ability move while staying at their desks. The bean bag chairs give them a place to read, calm down, or an alternative learning spot. The disk can be added to regular seats to provide cushions and help them to better sit in their seats. Many children with low muscle tone and/or sensory processing disorders tend to move around frequently and sit poorly by placing their heads on the table or wrapping their feet around a chair leg. Providing opportunities for controlled movement such as sitting on a ball chair or seat cushion may actually help a child stay seated and attend to tasks longer. Children learn in variety of ways so why not a variety of seats!
