Should kids stay in their seats for 4-6 hours a day? Of course, not! This project will help provide my students with movement in the classroom, without tripping over their regular 4 legged chairs. If you have ever observed a K-2 classroom, then you have seen kids fall out of their chairs for no apparent reason. Okay let's get real, they fall because they have a wiggle moment. Movement can be an effective cognitive strategy to (1) strengthen learning, (2) improve memory and retrieval, and (3) enhance learner motivation and morale. With that said, my fIrst graders need to "move it". Who wouldn't want a cool, colorful stool?
