Flexible seating allows students to take charge of their environment and make the choices that work best for them. It allows them to advocate for their own needs within the classroom. My students have asked independent to work in a variety of locations in our room such as: at different tables, sitting under tables with clip boards, or sitting or laying on the floor with a clip board. Making sure students are comfortable is an essential component in motivating them and allowing them to move while they work engages them. The real world is diverse, engaging, and full of choices, exactly how I see my classroom. How can I expect our students to solve problems and make choices independently if i solve all their problems and make their choices for them? The products that I have selected will help my students by giving them additional seating options to make more effective learning choices. In addition to providing students with an opportunity to move while they learn, these products can also service as part of a cooling down corner of my classroom I am establishing. I hope that the additional options will my scholars grows as self advocates as they make choices about the learning styles in the classroom.
