I teach Kindergarten in a large urban setting. My students are diverse and many are English language learners. Many have not had an opportunity to engage in developmentally appropriate activities in which they are allowed and encouraged to play and explore. Our classroom lacks sensory and dramatic play areas. Play is important to children's cognitive, physical, social and emotional development. I want my students to have these experiences!
