This summer our school was granted the funds to offer a summer school for students going into third to sixth grade. My co-teacher and I met some of the students who will be in our class for third grade. Having met some of our students, we became acutely aware of the needs many have acquired during the COVID-19 period. All of them missed the end of their first-grade year. Some attended Zoom classes on a sporadic basis for their second-grade year of school. None completed writing activities, as all work had to be typed to be submitted. Few have correct pencil grasp knowledge. Many do not have sustained attention abilities. We saw our students will need a great deal of material support to bridge the gap and be successful in the 2021-2022 school year. Many of the students do not yet know how to hold a pencil. Although summer school was only four hours, many students had trouble remaining in their seats and preferred to stand to write. Others lay in front of the smartboard, but looking up became tiring for them, thereby alternative seating in that location would be useful. Students will need many resources to help their learning recover from our shutdown from COVID-19. The resources I have chosen are those that we have seen will be necessary to begin our school year successfully,
