My 5th grade classroom would benefit greatly from having a class set of headphones with microphones. We use several online programs that allow for customized instruction based on the levels of our students. We use Dreambox for math and RAZ-kids for reading. My students need reliable headphones with microphones so they can both hear and record their math and reading/ thinking. Using our laptops, my students would be able to complete online projects by using video and audio recordings to show their understanding. Just imagine...seeing a special education student who struggles to write paragraphs...instead he/she can record their voice for what they want to say!
Being active while you learn makes a huge impact!
My special education students with attention deficits need ways to move while their brains are thinking. Rocking foot rests and bike pedals would benefit them greatly! Those students who just can't sit still...now have options to keep their body moving. Lap desks would give them the opportunity to move around the room to complete their work in a more comfortable area.
In a forever changing world of new technology, my students can start expressing themselves in new ways. And, we can better accommodate the needs of our unique learners.
