The technical skills will allow my students to be on the same playing field as other students who are provided with keyboarding skills throughout the school year. Then, when they go to take their online test they will be able to express themselves properly and will not get points taken off for not knowing how to capitalize their sentences and using grammatical remarks. My students will be more engaged because we have to remember that they are kids and a literacy game on the computer is just more appealing than a worksheet. This will not only provide my students with access to educational websites but also help me to differentiate for my students who are at low reading levels. My students who have IEPs or are at low reading levels will better receive remediation with programs on these computers. While they are getting skills that they need from the computer, I can serve other students one on one.
